The first 2-day National Congress on Neuro-Oncology began in Tehran on Wednesday. It focuses on medical robots, application of modern technology in diagnosis and treatment of tumors in spinal cord and brain, new methods of digital imaging in the diagnosis of CNS (central nervous system) tumors and smart equipment for medical laboratories, “besides the challenges in application of modern technology,” said Dr Seyed Mahmoud Tabatabaeefar, head of the event, IRNA reported. Hundreds of Iranian students and university professors in the field of neurology are attending. Neuro-oncology is the study of brain and spinal cord neoplasms (abnormal growth of tissue), many of which are eventually dangerous and life-threatening.
