Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University has set up a Plant Biotechnology Laboratory at the Lebanese University.

Within the framework of an academic and scientific memorandum of understanding between Iran and Lebanon, financial and scientific resources of the lab were provided by the Iranian university, and the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory was inaugurated on Monday.

“The scientific assistance by Iranian academic centers will greatly help Lebanon’s higher education system,” said Adnan Sayyed Hussein, president of the Lebanese University, Mehr News Agency reported. He called for the continuation and expansion of cooperation in other fields, particularly in the area of new technologies.

Founded in 1951, the Lebanese University is the only public institution for higher learning in Lebanon with 16 faculties.
