All hospitals across the country will be ranked this fiscal year (began March) as per a new set of hospital accreditation protocols devised by the Health Ministry, said Deputy Health Minister Mohammad Aqajani. “The new protocols lay particular focus on promoting patient safety,” he was quoted as saying by the Persian-language ‘Iran’ newspaper. The accreditation process includes 248 standards and 903 items, based on which hospitals will be ranked and categorized in four distinct categories. The medical tariffs at each hospital will be in accordance to its ranking, Aqajani said.
