A single priority bill to name a day on the Iranian calendar as “National Tehran Day” has been introduced by the Tehran City Council Social-Cultural Committee at a recent meeting. “The proposal aims to prepare the grounds for further promoting Tehran which is the capital for over 200 years, across the national and international arenas,” said Abdolmoqim Nasehi, head of the committee, ISNA reported. The bill proposes October 5 to be designated as the national day, as it was the first time that the National Islamic Council of the time referred to Tehran as the capital city.
