A total of 300 medical centers are offering free medical services on the ‘Nights of Qadr’ (June 23, 26, and 28) undertaken by the Basij (volunteers) of the Iranian Medical Society annually, during the holy month of Ramadan. “These centers are at locations where people will gather to stay up the nights for special prayers and meditation,” said Rouhollah Qaed Amini, IMS director of medicine, IRNA reported. Laylat al-Qadr, which translates into “Night of Power”, or “Night of Decree,” are of significance in the holy month of Ramadan as they mark the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Medical services will include general health screening, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, and self-care counseling. The centers are open from 10 pm till dawn (4 am).
