Nearly 15,000 working children were registered in schools across Tehran in the past two years, said Fariborz Hamidi, director general of Primary Education at Tehran’s Education Department. “They were identified from municipal districts 2, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, and 19,” he said, as reported by Persian language daily ‘Shahrvand’. The hurdles in the way of working children’s registration process is lack of identification documents among over 80% of these children, he said. “Two schools in district 12 are dedicated to labor children, and they provide various facilities, including clothes,” he noted.
