Four Iranian universities are among the top in the fields of math and basic sciences in CWTS Leiden Ranking 2016 based on knowledge production index. Amirkabir University of Technology (50th), Sharif University of Technology (70th), Iran University of Science and Technology (78th) and Tehran University (98), are the four academic centers on the list, according to leidenranking.com. Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Tarbiat Modares University, Isfahan University of Technology, K. N. Toosi University of Technology, University of Tabriz, Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University and Isfahan and Shiraz universities ranked 182, 233, 243, 259, 330, 386, 424 and 439, respectively. Leiden Ranking is an annual global university ranking system at Leiden University in the Netherlands that ranks universities worldwide according to the volume of the published papers at the institution.
