New School for Refugees in Saveh

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees will contribute to building a school for refugees in Saveh city in Markazi Province, the director of the provincial Education Department said on Monday.

“The school will be built on an area of 915 sq m with 12 classrooms. It will cost 11 billion rials ($315,000), 85% of which will be funded by the UNHCR,” Abdollah Salemi told IRNA.

A total of 3,852 refugees, mostly Afghans, are now studying in Saveh. The city has the highest number of enrollment of refugee students as it is one of the authorized places to host refugees in Iran.
