The share of domestically produced drugs in the pharmaceutical market has increased to 67% this year, up from 58% in 2013 when the Rouhani government took office, said Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi. “Increasing the share of domestic production in the market is on the agenda of the 2014 Health Reform Plan,” he said, presenting an official report at the Majlis on Sunday, ISNA reported. Nearly 2,000 health houses across the country have been built or renovated, and medical equipment in all have been doubled over the past three years. “Although Iran is advanced in many medical areas, it is ranked 89th globally and 7th in the region in terms of healthcare efficiency. There is need for early measures to improve the health system further,” the minister said.
