The project to produce avian influenza vaccine has been successful, and it will enter the domestic pharmaceutical market soon. “After several years of trials and efforts, the initial phase of laboratory production has been completed, and one million doses are ready for marketing,” project manager Masoumeh Saberifar told the Young Journalists Club. The private sector in cooperation with the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology is funding mass production of the vaccine at Tehran’s Pardis Technology Park. The vaccine will go through clinical trial at Tehran’s Baqiyatallah Hospital in early July, and enter the production cycle in October once it is accredited. Bird flu vaccine was previously imported from France, China, and India, who together with the US are its major producers.
