In a bid to eradicate illiteracy in the capital, a project by the Education Ministry to identify uneducated or undereducated workers, office help, and slum dwellers in District 1 of Tehran is currently underway in cooperation with the district municipality.
“The project will survey individuals in the 10-49 age group in the district in the upscale northern area,” said Saeed Kargaran, the deputy for social and cultural affairs at the district, Mehr News Agency reported.
In a similar project last year, 529 people in the same district were identified and introduced to the area’s education department for specific training.The group will get training in several everyday life skills, as well as civil rights, group and volunteer work, and environment in addition to reading and writing skills.
