Vision screening of children will be conducted in all permanent and mobile stations across the country, said Minoo Rafiei, director general of screening at the State Welfare Organization (SWO). At present 54,000 centers in the country are implementing the plan. Every child should receive regular visual assessment before the age of 6, as problems may develop after the first 12 months of a child’s birth. So being healthy in the first year of life is not a guarantee of good health in the coming years, she said, reports Mehr news agency.

Many visual problems are treatable if diagnosed in early age, such as Strabismus also known as “crossed eyes.”
