Draftees in the mandatory military service in Iran who are drug addicts are given 6 months to quit and come clean. “If they fail to do so, they will be treated on par with those who have evaded conscription, and therefore will be denied jobs in state-run organizations and also be deprived of specific social rights including overseas travel, warned Ebrahim Karimi, deputy commander of Iran’s Military Conscription Organization, IRNA reported. The duration of the national service is 21 months.
