Twenty new genetically modified seeds were unveiled by the Seed and Plant Improvement Research Institute (SPII), at a ceremony on Tuesday in Karaj, Alborz Province, said Gudarz Najafian, director general of the institute. “The genetically modified plant species include wheat, cotton, sugar beet, barely, spruce and seeds of some other fruits and legumes,” the Iranian Agriculture News Agency (IANA) quoted him as saying.
