Mayor of Vienna Michael Haupl discussed areas for bilateral cooperation with Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, in a meeting on Sunday that included plans “to improve the quality of life in Tehran.” The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding to develop urban services in the sprawling capital. Haupl who arrived in Tehran on Thursday on a five-day visit, called for mutual cooperation in infrastructure, urban technology, tourism, science and culture, and said signing the agreement is the first step toward boosting bilateral cooperation. A joint workgroup will be formed by the two cities for urban experts to discuss upcoming projects. Vienna has been declared the world’s best city to live in as per Mercer’s Quality of Living Survey in February. Ghalibaf said the two sides could cooperate in areas such as transportation, waste recycling, tourism, air pollution, education and sharing experience to improve quality of life in the capital city of more than 12 million people, ISNA reported.
