The preliminary technical production phase of an Iranian medical linear machine is over and in the quality assurance stage before its final approval by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Developed by knowledge-based company 'Behyar Sana't Sepahan', the domestically-produced device can be used in medical radiotherapy for killing cancer cells, IRNA quoted Navid Nejat, head of the company, as saying. "Given the ideal ratio of 3 radiotherapy devices per 1 million people, we still need 160 more; at present, there are only 80 radiotherapy devices in the country," he added. Currently, only four countries, the US, UK, China, and Poland produce the machine.
