On the occasion of the ‘National No Tobacco Week’ (May 24-30), the Health Ministry’s Occupational and Environmental Health Department will conduct inspections at every tobacco producing and supplying center across the country. “The move is in cooperation with universities of medical sciences across the 31 provinces,” said Mohsen Farhadi, deputy head of the department, ISNA reported. All centers will be checked for production and supply standards, and will be issued warnings if they introduce any kind of advertisement or “could get sealed” if they violate the regulations. According to the tobacco policy, tobacco pipes and hookahs must be sold in a discreet manner so as not to attract attention or encourage promotion. Farhadi said this year’s slogan “Hookah, Family Poison” will be displayed on the inspection vehicles.
