Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi has called for childcare centers at workplaces or in their vicinity. “Setting up new childcare centers or reopening those that were closed should be seriously considered,” she told IRNA on Monday. On the 14-article population policy announced by the Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in May 2014, she stressed the importance of childcare centers for working women. “Given that the policy was in response to the declining population growth rate, daycare centers can play an important role in encouraging and supporting women to have children while keeping their jobs.” Molaverdi said the issue has been taken up with the Management and Planning Organization and a draft in this regard is being worked out.
