Pointing to the country’s strategy to promote rapeseed cultivation, Alireza Mohajer, an official at the Ministry of Agriculture said a group of farmers from East Azarbaijan Province will be sent to countries that lead in rapeseed production, including France, Italy, Netherlands and Turkey, “to attend on-farm professional training programs.” Due to the low water consumption of rapeseed and given the severity of the water crisis in Iran, farmers should shift to crops that require less water, namely rapeseed, the Iranian Agriculture News Agency reported. The edible oil produced from rapeseed is called canola and is said to be among the healthiest of plant-derived oils.
