Iranian traditional medicine services accredited by the Health Ministry will be integrated into the healthcare system by the end of the current calendar year in March 2017, said Mahmoud Khodadoost, the ministry’s deputy for traditional medicine. “Incorporating traditional medicine within contemporary medicine has been on the agenda of the World Health Organization for over 30 years now,” he said at a function in the southwestern Khuzestan Province on Wednesday, ISNA reported. This is because traditional medicine is rooted in people’s culture and beliefs, costs less and has easy accessibility, he noted. Health Minister Hassan Hashemi has directed the pertinent executive bodies to incorporate traditional medicine in the healthcare system.
