People with physical disabilities have equal rights and are entitled to independent living; therefore, the city’s transport facilities such as metro stations should be made suitable and accessible to them, Mehr News agency quoted Mojtaba Shakeri , member of Tehran City Council as saying. “Unfortunately, our urban streets and transport facilities aren’t suitable for the physically challenged,” he said. “Therefore a workgroup for disabled citizens has been recently formed in the council to propose legislation to improve their rights,” he added.
