Sixty kidney stones were removed from a 24-year old man’s kidney in Bushehr, Hormozgan Province, during surgery recently, said Dr. Shahram Razmju, who performed the surgery. Pointing to the fact that kidney diseases are prevalent in the province, he said, “The ongoing water crisis has increased harmful mineral levels in Minab Dam, which supplies drinking water to the province,” Alef News Agency reported. Earlier, Dr. Abbas Basiri, head of the 17th Urology Congress of Iran said while the global rate of kidney diseases is 2 per 100,000 people, the figure is 8% to 10% in Iran.
