The number of traffic cameras in the capital is set to increase this year from the current 1,300, said head of Tehran’s traffic police Brigadier General Teymour Hosseini. “The surveillance cameras will be doubled as of the new Iranian year (began March 20), and the scheme is on track,” he said, ISNA reported. Parking in no-parking zones and using mobile phones while driving, are the top violations by drivers in Tehran. Jumping lanes and entering the city’s restricted traffic zones without a permit are next on the list, as recorded by the traffic cameras.
