The drafting process of the National Document on the Rights of Child is completed and finalized, announced Justice Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi.
“After two years in the making, the document is ready and has taken into account the relevant organization’s tasks with regard to better implementation of the law on protecting children’s rights,” he said, as reported by the website of the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs. The 10-year vision document was drafted in cooperation with Iran’s National Office on the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Once approved, it will be sent to all executive bodies for implementation. A national database with information on all children under the age of 18 has been prepared by the office. Children under 18 make up about 30% (nearly 28 million) of the total population.
