S. Korea, Iran in Medical Coop.

In a meeting between Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi and his South Korean counterpart Chung Chin-youb on Tuesday, both sides stressed the need to expand bilateral cooperation in the health sector. “The two nations have the capacity to cooperate in a myriad of areas including public health, medicine, medical equipment, and education and research,” said Hashemi. A memorandum of understanding in medicine and medical equipment was signed between the two sides, IRNA reported.  The two officials discussed issues including healthcare systems, hospital management software, electronic health records, joint projects in stem cell research, cellular therapy or cytotherapy, and producing medicine using state-of-the-art technologies.  On Monday, a separate MoU for cooperation in medicine and healthcare was signed by the two ministers in the presence of the presidents of both nations at Tehran’s Saadabad Palace.

South Korea’s President Park Geun-hye arrived in Tehran on May 1 at the head of a 230-member delegation.
