The share of domestic production in the medicine market has increased to 70% from 60% over the past two years, said Rasoul Dinarvand, head of the Food and Drug Administration.
“Around 30% of the drugs in the market are imported, and we intend to increase the domestic share to 75% by the end of the next economic, social and cultural development plan (2016-2021),” he was quoted by IRNA as saying. Noting that domestic medicine shortage applies to less than 30 essential drugs, some of which are met through imports, he said.
