The Non-communicable Disease Risk Factors Survey began Saturday across Iran and will continue till June 5. The door-to-door survey is part of the World Health Organization’s step-wise approach to surveillance (STEPS). It helps countries develop their own surveillance system to monitor and fight non-communicable diseases (NCDs), ISNA reported. It provides data on socioeconomic risk factors and metabolic, nutritional, and lifestyle risk factors. The survey is a follow-up on the National Document in Prevention and Control of NCDs unveiled last year, whose framework includes a 25% reduction in premature mortality from NCDs by 2025.
