A taxi-driver in the northern city of Rasht has stacked his vehicle with books in an effort to encourage his passengers to read while commuting in the taxi. Sahel Filsoof of Gilan Province, who has turned his cab into a mobile library, believes that people can find solutions to problems by reading books. “The idea to promote a culture of book-reading struck me a long time ago,” he told IRNA. “Now books even get circulated among my regular passengers.” The taxi has 50 books on different subjects, including psychology, children and history. He has also received a free supply of reading material from public libraries in the province. “I know I’m doing a good job when a passenger asks me for a book left unfinished during the last ride.”
