A study of rural household expenditure has been recently published by the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI). According to the survey that studied 19,390 rural households, on average, a four-member rural household spends $335 per month, of which 41% is for food and tobacco products and the remaining for “non-productive” use, the Iranian Agriculture News Agency (IANA) reported. Also, from the 41% spent on food and tobacco products, 25%, 20%, 16% and 10% are related to grains, meat, fruits and vegetables, and dairy products respectively.
