More than 6% of the State Welfare Organization’s (SWO) total budget ($290 million) is allocated for creating jobs for addicts returning home after rehab, said Anoushiravan Mohsenio Bandpei, head of the organization. Rebuilding life after rehabilitation can be tough, he said, adding that, “a suitable job can prevent addicts from returning to their old harmful habits,” IRNA reported. According to official data, 1.3 million addicts are living in the country. The actual figure, social experts say, is much higher.
