Iran and Germany have stressed the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of environment in a meeting between Masoumeh Ebtekar, Iran’s Vice-President and head of the Department of Environment (DoE) and Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg, German Ambassador to Tehran.

Environment is a transnational issue and “every small change in any corner of the world will affect the entire universe; therefore development of scientific and international cooperation in related issues is essential,” IRNA quoted Ebtekar as saying.

She also invited German experts and companies in the field of environment to take part in the international environment exhibition (IRAN ENVIRO 2015) which will be held from February 21-24 in Iran and said “no doubt their presence will be a prelude to environmental cooperation and a preliminary step for ‘green’ diplomatic relations between the two countries.”

Ungern-Sternberg said German environmentalists “are highly interested in cooperating with Iran especially in the field of protecting and safeguarding forests and preserving biodiversity.”
