With only two weeks to the inauguration of the 29th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), the Sun City subway station opens on April 18.

Considered a major access route to this year’s new location of the book fair, slated for May 4-14, it is the last junction in the first phase of Tehran-Parand metro line, which after the completion of the other two phases will connect the capital to Parand town, 45 km southwest of Tehran, Mehr News Agency reported.

Covering an area of 25,000 square meters, the new station is now the largest of its kind in the Middle East, overtaking the previous title holder namely the 15,000 sq m Tajrish Square station in north Tehran.

Sun City is located on Tehran-Qom Highway, close to the Imam Khomeini International Airport.

The architecture of the station is a combination of Iranian-Islamic style and its design is inspired by the Chehel Sotoun (literally, 40 Columns) Palace in Isfahan.

Visitors to the annual book fair can take Tehran Metro Line 1 or change their lines, if using other lines, at certain junctions to enter Line 1, and get off at the last station to access the Sun City Complex.
