On the eve of World Hemophilia Day (April 17), recombinant domestically-produced anti-hemophilic factor (Factor VIII) drug will enter the domestic pharmaceutical market, said Ahmad Ghavidel, head of Iranian Hemophilia Society. “The local drug can significantly reduce the cost of treating hemophilic patients,” he said adding that at present more than 5,000 people in the country suffer from the blood disorder, Mehr News Agency reported. “At present, Iran is one of the world’s main producers of FVII and the drug is exported to other countries including Russia and Turkey,” he said. Factor VIII is an essential blood-clotting protein.
