Anti-smoking programs have been added to the services offered to addicts at rehabilitation centers of the State Welfare Organization, said Mohsen Roshan Pajouh, head of the SWO’s Addiction Prevention Office. “Given that smoking is one of the factors associated with the likelihood of substance abuse and addiction, any institution dealing with drug abuse should put such programs on its agenda,” he said, ISNA reported. The SWO has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education affiliated to Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University, as per which the program will be piloted in SWO’s addiction treatment centers in addition to preventive education.
