The establishment of an international interdisciplinary medical research center is underway, said Science Minister Mohammad Farhadi, on the sidelines of a felicitation ceremony for distinguished Professor Majid Samii, at Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, on Tuesday. “The research center, on the recommendation of Prof. Samii, will work in various scientific disciplines such as medical engineering, life sciences, natural sciences, mathematical biology or biomathematics and in particular neuroscience,” IRNA quoted him as saying.
Samii is an internationally acclaimed Iranian neurosurgeon who has received several prestigious national and international awards, honors and medals, including the Golden Neuron Award and Leibniz Ring Prize in 2014.
The Germany-based professor is president of the International Society for Neurosurgery and was elected as the founding president of the Congress of International Neurosurgeons (MASCIN) in 2003.
