The average life expectancy at birth in Iran has gone up to 76 years from 73 in 2014, according to Rasoul Dinarvand, head of the Food and Drug Administration. “We plan to increase the rate further to 80 years by improving healthcare provision and checking non-communicable diseases,” he said, Borna News Agency reported. The World Health Organization puts the global average life expectancy at birth at 60 years. In developed nations such as Sweden or Japan the figure is 82-85 while it has reached 50 in underdeveloped regions including African countries.
