Turkey is eager to cooperate with the Iran Blood Transfusion Organization to obtain access to knowhow in various areas, including plasma fractionation, production of plasma derivatives and recombinant drugs. In a recent joint session between senior officials from the IBTO and the Turkish Red Crescent Society in Antalya on the sidelines of the 12th Annual Conference of the Asian Association of Transfusion Medicine (April 2-6), the Turkish side requested to make use of the IBTO’s 13 years of experience. The two sides also discussed a memorandum of understanding to be signed between the IBTO and the Turkish Ministry of Health to share relevant technology in areas including plasmapheresis, a process in which the liquid in the blood, or plasma, is separated from the cells.
