Implementation of the scheme ‘fast tracking and tracing, and product authentication of health products’ is a top priority on the Food and Drugs Administration’s agenda in the new Iranian fiscal year (began March 20), said FDA Head Rasoul Dinarvand. “The measure was piloted since last March only for medications and will be officially promoted for all products in the health sector this year,” he said, IRNA reported. The scheme constitutes a system whereby the people can determine the authenticity of health products by text messaging the code on their label. The initiative is to help curb smuggling, Dinarvand noted.
