Last year (ended March 19), the number of employed people in the country reached 21.9 million, up from the previous year’s 21.3 million. The figure indicates that the labor force participation rate increased to 38.2% from the previous 37.2%, said Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, Iranian government spokesman at his first press conference in the new year, IRNA reported. Labor force participation rate is the proportion of the population aged 15 and older that is economically active.
