Hamid Reza Gangozehi lost his life Sunday saving three of his students in Nuk Ju village in the southeastern Sistan-Baluchistan Province.
He rushed to their rescue as he saw the floor and walls of the house crumble as heavy rains and winds pummeled the region. He managed to save the lives of the trio but was trapped under the debris as the building collapsed, Mehr News Agency reported.
President Hassan Rouhani paid tribute to the self-sacrificing teacher in his Twitter account.
“The name and memory of Hamid Reza Gangozehi, the teacher who taught us a lesson of bravery and sacrifice, will live forever,” Rouhani wrote in a message as he extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
