The 27th National Congress of Physical Therapy will be held May 5-7 in Tehran, said executive secretary of the congress Dr. Ahmad Momenzadeh,.
“Every year the event creates a platform for scientists, scholars, and industrialists in the field to share ideas and information,” IRNA quoted him as saying.
The country’s demand for physical therapy services is expected to grow significantly in the coming years due to the increase in the so-called grey population, he added.
In 2006, 7.3% of the population (5.1 million people) consisted of the elderly. A study carried out five years later, showed the figure had increased to 8.2% (6.5 million).
