A team of Iranian researchers from Bushehr Medical Science University led by Dr. Majid Assadi is working on using nuclear medicine and molecular imaging in early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. “The research aims to diagnose such diseases before they are discernible through CT scan and MRI,” ISNA quoted Assadi as saying. Molecular imaging provides detailed pictures of the body at the molecular and cellular level, allowing physicians to measure its chemical and biological processes. The team plans to test the method on other diseases, such as MS and thyroid cancer.
