Nearly 30,000 biological samples from plants, microorganisms, humans, and animals have been stored in the country’s biobank, said Seyed Abolhassan Fazli, head of Iranian Biological Resource Center on Saturday. “The biological samples in 27 categories will be made available to researchers and those active in the biotech industry within a regulatory framework,” he said, Mehr News Agency reported. According to Fazli, the center is in contact with its peers in Spain, the Netherlands, Egypt, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Tunisia and Algeria. Biological resources contribute to security in health and food plus economic security, he stressed.
