Snow and blizzard affected six provinces causing damage in towns and villages, news outlets said Friday. “Provinces of East Azarbaijan, Ardabil, Qazvin, Gilan, Lorestan and Mazandaran have been hit by severe snowfall and blizzards. Close to 1,900 people were provided relief and several trapped vehicles were rescued,” ISNA quoted Seyed Mostafa Mortazavi, spokesman for the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, as saying. Heavy snowfall in the end of March is not the norm in Iran as the month sets the pace for springtime.
