Tehran’s Milad Tower, which is the world’s sixth tallest telecommunication tower, will turn off its lights for an hour on March 19 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm in observance of the global Earth Hour initiative. Households and businesses are also encouraged to voluntarily turn off their non-essential lights for one hour on the day as a symbol of their commitment to the planet, ISNA reported. Earth Hour is a worldwide movement uniting people to protect the planet. It was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then Earth Hour has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide.
