The plan to transfer piped water to Lake Urumia islands is ready for implementation, said Hassan Abbas Nejad, director of West Azarbaijan’s Department of Environment. The pipeline to transfer the water is 19 km long, and the project cost over $665,000, he said, reports IRNA. The plan was developed with the aim to protect animals in the lake region.
