Road accidents add a daily average of 100 handicapped people to the disabled population in the country, said Masoud Habibi, head of the Youth Organization affiliated to the Iranian Red Crescent Society. “The rate is alarming, and to address it, all IRCS volunteers will take part in a new campaign titled ‘Say No to Road Accidents’,” he said at the launching ceremony of the campaign, ILNA reported. The ceremony was attended by 750 IRCS team leaders of the “Safeguarding Nowruz (Iranian New Year) Travelers” program that aims to station IRCS teams across major roads in the country to provide people with emergency help. The campaign seeks to reduce the number of road mishaps and casualties and promote safe driving behavior through 20,000 young volunteers.
