The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has trained 25,000 personnel to provide relief and rescue during the Iranian New Year ‘Nowroz’ holidays (March 19-April 1). “IRCS staff will be able to respond quickly in case of emergencies such as road accidents since millions of people travel by road all over the country during the annual celebrations,” ISNA quoted Nasser Charkhsaz, IRCS head as saying. The busiest traveling period in Iran is during the Nowruz holidays, he added. According to figures released by Iran’s Cultural Heritage Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), last year 15 million Iranians travelled during the period.
