System to Reduce SSI

Iranian researcher Sasan Sadrizadeh at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden has designed an efficient operating room ventilation system that helps reduce bacterial infection. Leading an international research team, Sadrizadeh’s new design on hospital operating room ventilation has promising results as it reduces “surgical site infections among patients undergoing operations.”  “One of the most challenging postoperative complications can be surgical site infection (SSI). This type of infection may extend within the surgical wound after the operation,” he said, Mehr News Agency reported. Sadrizadeh is a researcher in the Fluid and Climate Technology Division of the Swedish institute.
