During the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (ends March 19) the marriage rate decreased by 4.2%, compared to the same period in the previous year. The divorce rate increased by 1% in the same period, said Ali Akbar Mahzoun, head of the Information and Statistics Department at the National Organization for Civil Registration. “During the period, 627,081 marriages and 146,980 divorces were registered across the country,” Tabnak News Agency quoted him as saying.
